Nongovernmental Organizations
There are thousands and thousands of local, national and international organizations dedicated to issues related to the environment. Some estimates even say there are 1-2 millions organizations dedicated toward ecological sustainability and social justice.
Here is just a sampling of some of the more well known organizations. Some may be listed twice as they are both national and international.
A great place to start for a more comprehensive list of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) is at: www.WiserEarth.org. WiserEarth is a community directory and networking forum that maps and connects non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and individuals addressing the central issues of our day: climate change, poverty, the environment, peace, water, hunger, social justice, conservation, human rights and more. It has over 100,000 organizations in its database.
